Exide Launches Battery Range To Cater To Demands Of Data Centers By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Thu, Jan 18th, 2024 Exide Technologies announces launch of Sprinter Pure Power battery range (PRNewsfoto/Exide Technologies) Exide Technologies an energy storage solution provider for stationary applications announced launching its new ‘Sprinter Pure Power’ battery range. Developed specifically for use in data center UPSs, this latest generation of advanced AGM batteries also serves a wide variety of applications, the firm said. “As the world becomes increasingly digital, data centers must manage exponentially growing volumes of data and consequently increase the capacity of their facilities, operating profitably and becoming sustainable in order to remain competitive. They need an advanced and reliable power support system in the event of potential power outages. Therefore, choosing the right battery to serve as the backbone of the data center is the most important thing, ” the firm said in a media statement. The energy storage firm said that Sprinter Pure Power batteries were designed to provide maximum reliability, durability and performance in modern data centers, including large-scale colocation facilities and hyperscale facilities. They are manufactured with pure lead electrodes, offering the highest power, corrosion resistance and operation at high temperatures, allowing significant savings in air conditioning, which will translate into a considerable reduction in CO2 emissions and substantial energy savings, Exide said. As per the company claims, compared to traditional AGM batteries, Sprinter Pure Power provides a significant reduction in the total cost of ownership (TCO) of the data center, thanks to 20% more energy in high-speed discharges, space savings of between 15% and 20%, and a design with a >12 years (Eurobat Rating) and reduced recharge cost due to its excellent charging efficiency. “The thin plate design of the Sprinter Pure Power ensures maximum energy transfer and the special polypropylene container reduces water vapour emissions and extends the service life without maintenance,” the company said. Paving the way to the future with fully automated production lines Sprinter Pure Power batteries are manufactured in Europe on state-of-the-art, fully automated, and 100% dedicated to pure lead-acid AGMs, with quality controls at every stage of production. Embracing the circular economy and solar energy as a path to sustainability, Sprinter Pure Power’s factory in Portugal (Castanheira) uses solar energy, generated with Exide’s photovoltaic park in the production and recycling facilities. This is the largest photovoltaic installation at a production plant in Portugal, which uses solar energy for self-consumption, allowing the Exide plant to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 20%. More than data centers, more than UPSs In addition to data center UPS, Sprinter Pure Power also offers great opportunities in applications such as UPS-as-aaR and distributed energy resources (DER), as well as network service provided by operators in various industries. “These most advanced pure lead-acid AGM batteries for UPS and data center applications are produced on fully automated manufacturing lines, with systemic quality controls at every stage of production,” explained Serge Arbes, Senior Commercial Director, Global Energy Solutions, Exide Technologies. “Thanks to its closed-loop recycling and the use of solar energy from one of Europe’s largest solar parks with energy storage, the Sprinter Pure Power has the lowest possible CO2 footprint.” Tags: Battery, data center, Exide
