EverGreen, Datta Infra & Others Bag NTPC’s 1.2GW Hybrid Tender

Highlights :

  • The discovered tariff in the latest wind-solar hybrid tenders are lower than what was recently discovered in similar tenders, issued by MSEDCL.
  • Compared to wind-solar tender, solar-wind hybrid tenders issued by NTPC recently saw tariffs of Rs 2.50/Kwh.

NTPC Limited has announced the results of its 1200 MW wind-solar hybrid tender. The power giant awarded contracts to four renewable project developers: Sembcorp Green Infra, Adani Renewable Energy, Green Prairie Energy III (EverGreen), Adyant Ensersol (Datta Infra), and ReNew Solar.

As per the auction results, Sembcorp, Adani Renewable, and ReNew Power secured projects at ₹3.29/kWh, with capacities of 300 MW, 600 MW, and 30 MW, respectively. Meanwhile, Green Prairie Energy III (EverGreen) and Adyant Ensersol (Datta Infra) were awarded 200 MW and 70 MW projects at a slightly lower tariff of ₹3.28/kWh.

Under the terms of the NTPC tender, these projects can be developed anywhere in India, with the option for developers to either co-locate or establish plants at different locations. The successful bidders will undertake the projects through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).

Notably, the prices discovered through the NTPC auction are lower than those of the recent MSEDCL tender for 1650 MW wind-solar hybrid projects, where the lowest tariff was ₹3.60/kWh, quoted by JSW Neo Energy and Tata Power Renewable Energy.

Earlier this year, a 500 MW MSEDCL tender saw the same lowest tariff of ₹3.60/kWh, quoted by JSW Energy and Juniper Green Energy.

This announcement follows closely on the heels of NTPC’s solar-wind hybrid project results, where the lowest tariff of ₹2.50/kWh was offered by Rays Power, Refex Green, and SAEL Limited.

NTPC Group has committed to increasing its renewable energy capacity. Currently, renewables make up only 4% of the group’s total turnover, but it plans to scale its renewable portfolio to 60 GW by 2032.

The central government entity is focusing on expanding its renewable capacity through large-scale solar and wind projects, floating solar, and Pumped Hydro Projects (PSPs) through its subsidiaries. NTPC is also working to boost energy storage projects across the state. The company, recognised as India’s Renewable Project Implementing Agency (REIA) is now awarding several green energy ISTS projects to boost the growth of renewable energy in the country.
