EOI for 5 MW Solar Plant Issued by Dept of Defence Production

The Department of Defence Production has issued an EOI for commissioning of 5 MW grid-connected solar plant at the Varagaon Ordnance Factory in Maharashtra.

The Ordnance Factory Board under the Department of Defence Production has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) for the commissioning of a 5 MW grid-connected solar power plant at the Varagaon Ordnance Factory in Maharashtra.

The scope of work for the selected bidders will include the design, supply, erection, and commissioning of the ground-mounted solar power project at the factory. The scope of the developer will also include the evacuation of the power that is generated and its transmission up to the nearest substation of OFV/ MSEDCL. The developers will have a period of 90 days to complete the work on the project.

The last date for submission of the response to the EOI is January 17, 2019, and the techno-commercial bids will be opened on the same date. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for January 6, 2019, to address the concerns raised by the prospective bidders.

The objective of the EOI is for solar power generation and the conservation of electrical energy. The OF Varagaon will assist in providing an area at OFV estate for the installation of the project. Furthermore, the OFV will sign the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the solar power developer and a Power Sale Agreement (PSA) with the state Discom.

In November, Ordnance Factory Ambajhari in Nagpur, on behalf of the Department of Defence, has issued a tender, inviting bids for the development of 950 kW of rooftop solar power plants in two packages of 475 kW each. The solar power plant shall be installed on the roofs of 2 newly constructed buildings BN1, BN2 inside OFAJ Factory area in Nagpur. The operating life of the plant shall be 25 years and the successful bidders will provide maintenance services for the two rooftop systems for a period of 5 years from the date of successful commissioning.
