Enercon To Supply 260 MW Wind Turbines To Kalyon Enerji For Turkish Project By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Jun 2nd, 2023 Highlights : Kalyon’s 260 MW wind energy project is being built within the scope of the YEKA RES-3 project in Turkey. Enercon and Kalyon agreed for the delivery and installation of 64 units of E-138 EP3 WECs. Enercon Signs 6 MW Turbine Agreement with Enerjisa Üretim Onshore wind turbine technologies giant Enercon has been awarded a wind energy turbine contract from renewable energy investor Kalyon Enerji for its 260 MW wind energy project within the scope of the YEKA RES-3 project in Turkey. According to the agreement, Enercon will supply and install 64 units of E-138 EP3 wind turbines for onshore projects of Kolyon Enerji. As part of the YEKA RES-3 tender organized by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in 2022 for a total capacity of 850 MW in 20 different regions, Kalyon Energy obtained a total capacity of 260 MW. Enercon said that in January, the first turbine supply & installation contract for Ordu RES 40 MW capacity, one of the YEKA WPP-3 projects, was signed between Enercon and Kalen Energy, one of Kalyon subsidiaries. Enercon and Kalyon agreed for the delivery and installation of 64 E-138 EP3 WECs for wind energy projects in Elazığ, Bilecik, Bayburt, Ankara and Trabzon regions. The total capacity is of 260 MW. It will develop and operate the projects according to the ‘YEKA 3 Tender’ specifications. Except the nacelles all main components are manufactured in Türkiye. Tayfun Bayraktar, Sales Director, Enercon said, “With 25 years of experience and our well-established supply chain network, we developed the E-138 EP3 turbine type as the most highly localised wind turbine in Türkiye. As of today, we installed and commissioned more than 150 E-138 EP3 in the country.” Enercon Signs 6 MW Turbine Agreement with Enerjisa Üretim Also Read Enercon has already undertaken the entire turbine supply & installation of the 1,000 MW YEKA RES 2 project. Kalyon Enerji CEO Dr Murtaza Ata commented, “Our local production capability, which we have gained in renewable energy technologies, offers significant advantages to both sustainability and our economy. In this context, our cooperation with ENERCON in the supply of wind turbines with a 55% locality rate in accordance with YEKA-3 criteria will add significant momentum to our growth strategies at YEKA.” The wind energy capacity of Turkey is in excess of 11-GW. Power from renewable sources constitute about 11% of the total generation. As per Turkish Wind Energy Association (TÜREB), the country looks to add 1000 MW of wind and solar power in the country this year only. International Energy Agency (IEA) has estimated that the renewable energy capacity of Turkey will swell by 64% to 90 GW in the coming. Solar and wind will make 75% of this increase.
