EDF Renewable Energy signs 15 year PPA with a California Utility for 111 MWac Solar Project By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Apr 7th, 2016 EDF Renewable Energy has signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement with Southern California Edison (SCE) for 111.2 megawatt alternating current (MWac) solar project. The Valentine solar project will deliver clean electricity to SCE starting December 2019. Valentine Solar spreads across 1,260 acres of private land in Kern County’s Mojave Desert, adjacent to company’s Catalina Solar 2 Project, which is also contracted with SCE. Valentine will embrace horizontal single-axis tracking solar photovoltaic (PV) technology generating power which is equivalent to avoiding more than 225,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually. “EDF Renewable Energy is pleased to once again partner with Southern California Edison to bring affordable solar energy to SCE’s customers, through the Valentine Solar Project,” said Dai Owen, Director, Power Marketing. He added “as solar energy becomes increasingly cost-competitive against other forms of generation, we continue to expand our solar portfolio to meet the growing appetite of our utility partners and corporate clients for clean, renewable energy.” Tags: EDF Renewable Energy Southern California Edison (SCE), green energy, Renewable Energy, Solar, Solar Energy, Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, Solar Power, Solar Project
