Dogger Bank D Awards Projects for Technical Consultations to Three Firms By Namrata Gulati Sapra/ Updated On Mon, Dec 4th, 2023 Highlights : The project team of Dogger Bank is working with The Crown Estate to make way for the progression of Dogger Bank D. If progressed for delivery, the North Sea scheme would be about 210km off the north-east coast of England. Dogger Bank D Awards Projects for Technical Consultations to Three Firms Contracts have been awarded to Genesis, H2GO Power, and Fichtner by project partners SSE Renewables and Equinor in an initiative to begin the production of large-scale green hydrogen from the 2 GW Dogger Bank D. Being developed in a phased manner, Dogger Bank is located off the coast of England. The project, which could be the potential fourth phase of Dogger Bank Wind Farm, has awarded deals to engineering consultants. The project team of Dogger Bank is working with The Crown Estate to make way for the progression of Dogger Bank D. If progressed for delivery, the North Sea scheme would be about 210km off the north-east coast of England. The site is being advanced with both power and green hydrogen as potential end products. The project has the potential of producing renewable energy of up to 2 GW. Once it is developed, the green hydrogen project, could be among UK’s largest such schemes. The UK has set sights on achieving electrolytic hydrogen capacity of 5 GW by the end of the decade. Headquartered in the UK, Genesis offers advisory services to the energy sector globally and paves the way for energy transition for various firms by way of its expert advisory and consultancy services. H2GO Power is a technological start-up delving into the development and deployment of software and hardware solutions for hydrogen energy systems. Chief Executive and Co-founder, Enass Abo-Hamed, H2GO Power, remarked, “We are delighted to join forces with Equinor and SSE Renewables and apply a decade long experience of Hydrogen-specific tech innovation and AI in this first of its kind project. The decarbonisation value projects at this scale brings is instrumental to accelerating the growth of the hydrogen ecosystem and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.” Fichtner is an engineering consultancy that accelerates energy projects across the UK, Ireland, and global markets. Principal Engineer and Project Director, Fichtner, Mark Shatwell, concluded, “Our Fichtner H2-Optimizer, which has been developed following our work with global electrolytic hydrogen projects, will assist the Dogger Bank D green hydrogen concept by providing answers to questions such as: How should the electrolysers be configured and operated, and what is the optimal hydrogen storage capacity? We look forward to providing answers and supporting the progression of this exciting project.” Dogger Bank delivered its first power to the grid in October, 2023.
