DM Orders Village Panchayats to Install Solar Powered Lights in 129 Bareilly Booths: Report By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Jan 24th, 2017 We have identified 129 polling booths which are yet to get an electric connection. At all such booths, we will keep a petromax lamp for illumination. Besides, village panchayats concerned have been directed to install solar powered lights at these polling booths District election officer and DM in Bareilly, Surendra Singh have asked village panchayats to install solar powered lights in the 129 booth that have been identified with no electricity. Election Comission has already issued directions to ensure availability of basic minimum facilities such as electricity, drinking water, toilets, etc. at polling booths. DM Singh, speaking to ET said, “We identified 129 polling booths which are yet to get an electric connection. At all such booths, we will keep a petromax lamp for illumination. Besides, village panchayats concerned have been directed to install solar powered lights at these polling booths.” Singh was awarded best DEO in the country by EC in 2012 for conducting polls in Firozabad district. The DEO expects 30.52 lakh voters in the district would be exercising their franchises in the upcoming election.
