Delhi Govt Aims to Generate over 2 GW of Solar Power by 2025 By Manu Tayal/ Updated On Tue, Jul 24th, 2018 Further, the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre (EE&REM), Delhi’s Department of Power has organised a consultation workshop ‘Rooftop Solar Demand Aggregation Program for Domestic Consumers’, with an aim to achieve this 2 GW of solar power goal and understand the opportunities and challenges in aggregating the consumer demand. In a bid to generate over 2 GW of solar power in Delhi by 2025, the state government is laying out an extensive plan to encourage the adoption of rooftop solar projects by the residential sector. Further, the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre (EE&REM), Delhi’s Department of Power has organised a consultation workshop ‘Rooftop Solar Demand Aggregation Program for Domestic Consumers’, with an aim to achieve this 2 GW of solar power goal and understand the opportunities and challenges in aggregating the consumer demand. Moreover, the workshop, supported by the SUPRABHA (Sustainable Partnerships for Rooftop Solar Acceleration in Bharat), a World Bank-SBI Rooftop Solar Technical Assistance (TA) Programme discussed the opportunities and challenges faced by Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) developers in setting up solar rooftop projects in Delhi. Commenting on the development, Power Minister, Satyendar Jain said, “It is the endeavour of the Delhi Government to promote the use of renewable energy by all sectors.” Jain further added that, “The residential sector is a key component in an urban setup like Delhi and we are exploring ways and means to make it easy for this sector to adopt rooftop solar. The RESCO model enables this by minimising capital expenditure for homeowners and RWAs. The Delhi Government’s aim is to generate 1000 MW by 2020 and 2000 MW by 2025 through Rooftop Solar Installations.” Source: IANS Tags: Delhi, Delhi government, Delhi’s Department of Power, developers, EE&REM, Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Management Centre, India, Renewable Energy, Renewable Energy Service Company, RESCO, RESCO model, residential sector, Rooftop Solar, Rooftop Solar Demand Aggregation Program for Domestic Consumers, rooftop solar installations, rooftop solar projects, Satyendar Jain, Solar Power, Solar Power by 2025, solar rooftop projects in Delhi, SUPRABHA, Sustainable Partnerships for Rooftop Solar Acceleration in Bharat
