Maersk Supply Service will act as lead contractor and key contact for clients on any projects carried out as part of the collaboration, with Stiesdal Offshore acting as a subcontractor to Maersk Supply Service. France-bases TotalEnergies and Ireland's Simply Blue Group have received a nod for the Erebus floating offshore wind farm for 100 MW capacity. A global leader of marine services and integrated solutions to the energy sector, Maersk Supply Service has announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Stiesdal Offshore to offer combined solutions to the fast-growing floating offshore wind sector by building on the their individual positions in the industry. Stiesdal is known for supplying floating offshore wind, energy storage, power-to-X hydrogen production and CO2 storage combined with green fuel production. Maersk said that floating wind technology is poised for a robust growth in the urgent transition to renewable energy globally. Hence, to accelerate its development, the two Denmark-based firms will combine their respective strengths to create comprehensive and integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) solutions for foundations and moorings. This integrated approach will streamline the value chain, facilitating fast-track installations and ultimately bringing down the levelised costs of floating wind. Maersk Supply Service will act as lead contractor and key contact for clients on any projects carried out as part of the collaboration, with Stiesdal Offshore acting as a subcontractor to Maersk Supply Service. The official statement held that Stiesdal Offshore has been developing the innovative Tetra concept, the world’s first fully industrialised floating technology since 2017. Based on factory-made modules assembled in port to form a complete foundation, the Tetra concept reduces manufacturing hours significantly, achieving a lightweight and cost-effective floating foundation. It’s a cost-saving and rationalisation potential of the concept.
