The last date is March 31. Rooftop solar power units that are free of cost will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Online forms can be accessed on the website of CREST. Recently, a Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) solar-power awareness porgramme was held by CRAWFED, CREST, Chandigarh Administration and Yuvsatta-NGO. Dr Anish Garg from CRAWFED said that upcoming vendor sites should be equipped with solar roofs. Hitesh Puri, chairman, CRAWFED, asked RWA members to capitalise on the scheme by CREST. He said this would enable the Chandigarh Administration in conserving energy The Project Director of CREST, S Sukhwinder Singh, shed light on the RESCO Model of Solar Power that is based on BOT (build operate transfer) model. Further, Dalai revealed that the model got the green signal following three years of follow-ups. There were also hearings held with Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC). Chandigarh has been constantly ramping up efforts to encourage the adoption of solar energy. Various iniiatives and projects are being announced in the city. In a first for the city, Chandigarh said that it is set to welcome three solar plants with robotic cleaning.
