Clean Capital Acquires 100% Stake in BQ Energy

New York-based clean energy investment firm, Clean Capital has announced its 100% acquisition (100% Stake) of renewable energy development company, BQ Energy recently. Now Clean Capital has all the rights to operate BQE independently as an own-subsidiary firm.

Now Clean Capital will invest in BQE’s long-term projects. Additionally, Clean Capital will invest in initiatives that will help the energy transition & revitalize contaminated and unused land. These pieces of land have numerous positive effects on the environment and the surrounding community.

The acquisition of BQE (100% Stake) includes a pipeline of mid-stage and late-stage solar development projects totaling more than 700 MW and more than 300 MW, respectively.

On landfills and abandoned industrial sites, such as refineries, steel mills, coal plants, and mines, BQE develops community solar, commercial & industrial (C&I), and utility-scale solar assets. By doing so, it transforms environmentally damaged land into a source of clean, renewable energy for the benefit of nearby communities.

Since early 2021, Clean Capital’s focus has shifted from acquiring operating solar assets to a more comprehensive approach that includes the development and construction of solar and storage assets.

This historic transaction strengthens Clean Capital’s growing presence in the clean energy sector. This revolutionary investment in brownfield development illustrates Clean Capital’s expanding reach and its dedication to accelerating the energy transition. Clean Capital is already among the nation’s leaders in investing in, financing, and operating commercial solar assets.

This purchase is a part of a string of investments that followed Clean Capital’s $300 million pledge from Manulife announced last year. along with a 65 MW purchase announced in February. Till now, Clean Capital has successfully acquired and managed 200 projects totaling more than 300 MW in 24 states. Its combined acquisitions, which amount to more than $800 million, have cemented its place among the top ten U.S. owners of commercial solar assets.
