CEL Tender For 200 MWp Solar Module Line in Uttar Pradesh Project

ACME Targets Rs 10,000cr Revenues From Solar Module, Cell Biz

Central Electronics Limited (CEL) has floated a tender to select a bidder for setting up a 200 MWp solar module manufacturing plant at its Sahibabad facility in Uttar Pradesh under a revenue-sharing model, the company said. The project is part of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. The last date for bid submission is May 14, 2025. Bids must remain valid for a minimum of 90 days from the date of opening of the request for proposal (RFP), according to the tender document.

Solar Manufacturing Ramp-up In Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a major hub for solar manufacturing, with firms such as Avaada Electro already setting up large-scale production facilities. Avaada Group recently inaugurated a 1.5 GW solar module manufacturing gigafactory in Noida, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The foundation stone was also laid for the company’s 5 GW integrated solar manufacturing unit at Ecotech in Greater Noida. The company plans to invest Rs 13,650 crore in a vertically integrated facility covering the full value chain from ingot-wafer to PV cells and modules.

Meanwhile, Greater Noida-based Alpex Solar received shareholder approval in 2024 to expand its capacity by 1.6 GW through a new solar cell plant. The company announced an investment of Rs 642 crore for the facility, which will complement its existing solar PV module and aluminum frame manufacturing operations.

New Solar Park Project In Jalaun

In another development, NHPC’s board of directors approved the development of a 1,200 MW solar park in Jalaun district. The state-run firm cleared an investment of Rs 796.96 crore for the project, including Rs 42.69 crore in interest during construction. NHPC will invest Rs 239.09 crore in equity in Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL), its subsidiary and a joint venture with the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), which will execute the project.
