Maharashtra Chemical Firm Experiments With Corrosion-Resistant Solar Plant By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Jan 3rd, 2025 Maharashtra Chemical Firm Experiments With Corrosion-Resistant Solar Plant Renewable energy company Ohms Energy has implemented a groundbreaking solution at Scottish Chemical Industries’ factory in Taloja, Maharashtra, by installing a first-of-its-kind 300 kWp solar plant designed to withstand highly corrosive conditions. This innovative project marks a significant milestone in renewable energy adoption within challenging industrial environments, delivering cost savings and reducing carbon emissions for the specialty chemicals leader. The factory’s operations, which utilize chlorine gas as a key raw material, posed a formidable challenge for conventional solar solutions. “Global solar companies were unable to provide durable solutions with standard warranties for such extreme conditions. Ohms Energy stepped in, collaborating with Spark Solar to design custom corrosion-resistant solar panels and frames, ensuring reliability and high performance even in such adverse environments,” the firm stated. To ensure the project’s success, Ohms Energy adopted a phased approach. The company identified specific challenges, conducted rigorous testing, and implemented tailored solutions. It installed a solar test plant that operated for over a year to refine the design. Subsequently, it deployed a full-scale 300 kWp solar plant equipped with innovative materials and structures engineered to endure the factory’s corrosive atmosphere. According to the firm, the solar plant delivers measurable benefits, including annual cost savings exceeding ₹38 lakh and a reduction of approximately 325.76 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. The initiative aligns perfectly with Scottish Chemical Industries’ sustainability goals, advancing its efforts to lower its carbon footprint and transition to renewable energy for sustainable growth. “This project demonstrates our expertise in addressing complex industrial challenges with innovative and sustainable energy solutions. It opens up new opportunities for industries operating in unique environmental conditions,” said Anuraag Gupta, Director of Ohms Energy. “This initiative underscores our commitment to sustainability and serves as a model for industries like ours to embrace renewable energy solutions effectively,” said Rishab Khandelwal, Director of Scottish Chemical Industries.
