CESC Awards 150 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project To Purvah By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Wed, Jan 8th, 2025 CESC Awards 150 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project To Purvah Kolkata-based power utility supplier, Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC), recently awarded 150 MW of wind-solar hybrid project to to its subsidiary Purvah Green Power Private Limited (Purvah). This was to meant to procure power from grid-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects. The project also offers an additional 150 MW capacity under the greenshoe option. The company in its regulatory filing, “The power purchase agreement to be signed will remain in force for 25 years from the scheduled commencement of supply date.” The tender mandated the company to identify land, undertake installation, and take ownership of the project. The tender also mandated the bidder to obtain connectivity and necessary approvals and interconnection with the ISTS network for the supply of power to CESC. The bidder was also supposed to take the responsibility for undertaking inter-connection with the transmission network of the ISTS at a voltage level of 220 kV or above. CESC Previous Project Last year in 2024, the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL), a CESC Limited subsidiary issued a Letter of Award to Purvah Green Power Private Limited (Purvah), another subsidiary of CESC. The company secured a hybrid power project of 300 MW under tariff-based competitive bidding. Moreover, CESC Limited, also entered into a binding agreement with Indian wind energy company Inox Wind Limited (IWL), for the installation/supplies of 1,500 MW of wind capacity over the next 3-4 years. The Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), each having a minimum capacity of 3.3 MW. The scope of the agreement comprises a mix of end-to-end turnkey execution for 1,000 MW and equipment supply with a limited scope EPC for 500 MW. Additionally, IWL’s subsidiary, Inox Green Energy Services Limited (IGESL) as per the agreement was supposed to provide post-commissioning multi-year operations & maintenance (O&M) services. This was by far the single largest order signed for a wind project in India by any Wind OEM.
