CBI Files FIR Against Officials Of SJVNL, Siemens Gamesa

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against some officials of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL) and Siemens Gamesa over fraudulent practices. 

In a media statement, the central agency said that such malpractices led to a loss of around Rs 191 crore to the public sector utility. CBI said it had registered an FIR in this case against three errant officials of the SJVN. It also raided seven different places in this regard. 

“Based on a complaint, we have filed a case against three serving employees of SJVN and some private company officials. The company has been accused of providing a faulty feasibility report for installing a wind power project,” CBI said.

As per the agency, the officials concerned conspired and did not adhere to the tender specifications to ensure adequate supply and installation of equipment and materials for the wind power plant of SJVNL based at Khirvire, Kombhalane, in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. CBI claimed that such actions led to a loss of around Rs 191 crore to SJVNL.  

The investigating agency raided several properties in this regard in Delhi, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon, Samana (Patiala district, Punjab), and some sites in Chennai. A total of several sites were raided. The agency also seized some documents in this regard during these raids. 

Siemens Gamesa is a global renewable energy company. It is involved in the development, manufacturing, installation and maintenance of wind turbines. In the past it has received several projects in India. The company venrtured into the renewable sector in 1980s and worked towards energy transition across the globe. SJVNL, meanwhile is an Indian PSU dealing with several renewable projects across the country.
