The project, which is situated in Mesquite, Texas, was revealed last year with a $250 million US investment from the Chinese manufacturer. The Texas plant employs 1,500 people, according to a post made on LinkedIn by Canadian Solar’s corporate senior vice president, Thomas Koerner. In the US, the firm has several solar facilities than this one. In Jeffersonville, Indiana, a 5GW solar cell production facility is presently under construction with the goal of supplying the Texas module assembly plant. Recently, Canadian Solar and solar energy company Sol Systems signed a supply deal for Canadian Solar’s US-made bifacial TOPCon TOPBiHiKu7 modules. But at the time, the capacity to be supplied was not made public. From 2024 to 2025, the modules are anticipated to complement Sol Systems’ US project pipeline. Canadian Solar Inc. and Sol Systems announced their recent partnership to scale new solar module production and procurement in the United States. Canadian Solar has secured a framework agreement to provide Sol Systems with a significant supply of modules from its newly ramped Texas module factory. Under the partnership, Canadian Solar will supply its latest high-efficiency N-Type TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar modules to support Sol Systems’ project pipeline in the US between 2024 and 2025.
