Budget For Transmission Project To Boost Power In Northeast: Minister By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Wed, Feb 7th, 2024 Highlights : The Union Minister R.K Singh in his written reply said, government has revised cost of ₹ 6,700 crore for the North-Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) for six States (Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland), for strengthening of the Intra-State Transmission and Distribution Systems (33kV and above). Juniper Green Gets CERC Nod For Power Trading Licence Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy and Power (MNRE) recently informed the parliament in a written reply about the growth in the implementation of projects under the Ministry of Power (MoP) for strengthening the Intra-State Transmission System as well as the distribution system in Northeastern States and Sikkim. The minister said, “Northeastern Region Power System Improvement Project (NERPSIP) for six States (Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland), for strengthening of the Intra-State Transmission and Distribution Systems (33kV and above) at a revised cost of ₹ 6,700 crore.” He added, “The comprehensive scheme for strengthening of transmission and distribution system in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim at a revised cost of ₹ 9,129.32 crores. The implementation of the above projects is expected to strengthen intra-state transmission as well as distribution system of the Northeastern Region and improve connectivity of the upcoming load centers with the National grid to achieve affordable and reliable 24X7 power supply to all categories of end consumers in states of Northeastern Region, including Sikkim.” The status of elements completed state-wise is given below. The minister in his data revealed that Tripura held the highest number of completed elements (145), followed by (115) elements in Assam, (54) in Nagaland, (41) in Meghalaya, (68) in Manipur, and (10) in Nagaland.
