The German solar industry, which is facing paucity of trained workers, will now be an easy destination for job seekers from India. The recent  agreement between the German Solar Industry Association (BSW- which stands for Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft) and the Indian Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ) will help integrate skilled workers from India into the German solar industry.

This agreement has come after the German government’s plans for PV expansion and installing solar power capacity. It is looking to install 215 GW installed by 2030. To achieve the target, BSW has pointed towards the availability of appropriately trained workers.

BSW represents the interests of some 1000 companies from the solar energy industry. It wants to make solar power more cost-effective and promotes potential solar power producers.

The German State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Udo Philipp also noted that  that the availability of well-trained skilled workers for the solar industry in Germany plays a key role in the country’s energy transition.

BSW has been working with various government departments and associations on the Hand in Hand for International Talents project that recruits skilled professionals from India to work and live in Germany. This is aimed at helping integrate skilled workers.

It should be noted that  few years ago, the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) launched a training programme to fulfill the need for skilled workers in the solar sector. More than 51,000 workers have been trained under the programme by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. MNRE has set a target of training 100,000 skilled workers in the solar energy sector.
