BSNL to offer its Telecom Factory in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh for manufacturing of solar equipments By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Aug 23rd, 2016 BSNL Issues Tender for 10 MW Rooftop Solar Projects Government of India introduced various policies viz Make in India, Digital India, National Electronic Manufacturing Policy as well as National Telecom Policy which lay special emphasis on indigenous manufacturing of Electronic / Telecom Equipments & products. Govt. has also made very ambitious plans to aggressively accelerate the solar energy program under Jawaharlal Nehru Solar Mission. In a bid to boost the government’s solar mission and ‘Make in India’ programme, state run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is planning to offer its premises at Telecom Factory Bhilai, Chhattisgarh for manufacturing latest technology, solar Power Supply Systems and its components viz. Solar Cells, SPV Modules, float charger/ inverter panels, array, solar batteries, solar tracker and other related equipments. BSNL on 12th August invited online digitally sealed Request for Proposal (RFP) from prospective eligible bidders to be a Partner in this endeavor. India’s solar sector fascinated a considerable amount of investor interest from abroad as well as within the country. However, many developers import solar equipment from countries like China to accomplish solar projects in the country. BSNL Telecom Factory Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, which is spread over 49.5 acres, is located in the heavy industrial Area. The Unit is having separate Engg.-cum-Administration Block, Production shops, Stores & Godowns, Testing Labs & other regular factory infrastructure with adequate support utilities like water, electricity etc. BSNL in a statement notes that this will help generate revenue by targeting the markets available in India and abroad for such products. It is envisaged that around 30% of the annual solar equipment requirement of BSNL shall be met from this venture to be set up at Telecom Factory, Bhilai.
