The BMW iX is the best-selling battery-electric vehicle in the Indian luxury car segment, the firm said. BMW India, one of the leading luxury car makers in the electric segment in the country, reported an 11 percent growth in its total deliveries of electric vehicles (EVs) in the first six months of 2023. BMW Group India said it continued its dominance in the electric luxury segment. It attributed this to the most diverse Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) models in the Indian EV four-wheeler market. The BMW iX is the best-selling battery-electric vehicle in the Indian luxury car segment. The best charging infrastructure in the premium segment at BMW Group Dealer Network in 35 cities played a vital role,” the company said in a media statement. The all-electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE has become the third-highest-selling MINI model in India, with a share of 14% in sales. Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, said, “BMW Group India is redefining luxury with class-leading comfort, performance and aesthetics. The landmark of achieving the highest-ever half-year, quarter as well as June sales is a culmination of the company’s strategic steps. Whether it is the appeal of sheer driving pleasure or sustainable mobility, every product launched this year is extremely desirable and in tremendous demand.” In his interviews, Pawah said that the company’s luxury EV segment comprised 10 percent of its total share, whereas it plans to increase the segment share up to 15 percent by the end of this year. He claimed that its iX luxury electric model sales alone had been more than the sales of any other luxury car model of any competitive company. In the first six months, 5,867 cars (BMW and MINI) and 4,667 motorcycles (BMW Motorrad) were sold. BMW sold 5,476 units, and MINI 391 units.
