Bihar Awards Solar Streetlight Contract To Bondada Engineering

The Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) recently granted Rs. 1,08,90,02,500 of work orders to Bondada Engineering. The award was given to the company to install solar streetlights in the state to bolster the growth of the use of solar lights in rural areas. The project was also envisaged to reduce the dependency of streetlighting from conventional sources of energy. 

The Bihar Electricity Distribution Company signed an agreement with Bondana Engineering to complete the project within 18 months from the execution of the agreement. The company would be responsible for designing, supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning the project. The company entered into a comprehensive maintenance contract for 5 years. The project includes conducting remote monitoring systems of the smart solar street light systems on the identified existing electric pole under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Solar Street Light Yojana in Bihar State on an EPC basis. 

Previous Projects 

Bondada Engineering recently commissioned its first Independent Power Producer (IPP) solar of 2.80MW (DC) at Hyderabad. The power generation from the project has already started, and the same can be purchased by Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) as per the power purchase agreement (PPA) agreement which has a 25-year validity.

Bihar, which is marred by the scarcity of land in the state has been using several ways to boost the growth of solar energy in the state. It has tried floating solar, rooftop solar, and smaller decentralised solar projects to boost its growth. It has also started working towards the feeder-level solarisation of agricultural feeders in rural areas to decarbonise the agricultural sector.
