Big Basket Goes Solar With Amplus to Trim CO2 Emissions

By using solar energy, Big Basket expects to generate 310,64,120 units of green power which in turn will help in trimming its CO2 emissions by 29,440 metric tonnes for a term period of 20 years.

One of Asia’s leading clean and green energy solutions provider Amplus Energy Solutions has joined hands with Big Basket, an online grocery retailer, to install solar plants across its outlets in India.

As per the agreement signed, rooftop solar solutions provider Amplus will install over 1.4 MWp of solar power plants at twelve facilities of Big Basket spread across four states – Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

Bengaluru-headquartered Big Basket is investing in green initiatives as they want to power their growth by adopting environmentally conscious methods including switching to solar power for their future energy needs along with saving on their electricity bills.

Through using solar energy, the online grocery retailer is expected to generate 310,64,120 units of green power which in turn will help in trimming its CO2 emissions by 29,440 metric tonnes for a term period of 20 years.

Commenting on the deal, Amplus Solar’s CEO & MD Sanjeev Aggarwal said, “solar sector in India is growing at a rapid pace, and Big Basket as a leader in online grocery market will set the benchmark for other companies in the segment to follow environmentally conscious way for growth. With this partnership, Big Basket will be able to reduce their CO2 emissions to a large extent.”

Amplus is a member of Petronas (Petroliam NasionalBerhad) Group, Malaysia and is headquartered in Singapore with offices in Bangalore, Bangkok, Dubai, Gurugram, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Pune.

Currently, the company owns and manages a portfolio of 600+ MWp of distributed solar assets across Asia. It is also diversifying in new avenues such as battery storage, energy efficiencies, concentrated solar power technologies and electric vehicles among others.
