Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Rajasthan Part I Power Transmission Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) under Adani Energy Solutions, for the BF800 HVDC Project, planned for completion by 2030. In a regulatory filing, BHEL confirmed that it will design and execute the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) link along with the associated AC substations, in partnership with Hitachi Energy India Limited (HEIL).

BHEL added, “The substation will transmit renewable energy from Bhadla III (Rajasthan) and Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh). This is subject to the contract, which will be executed at a later date.” It further shared details about the project: “The design and execution of 2 HVDC LCC terminal stations of 6000 MW at Bhadla (Rajasthan) and Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh), +800 kV HVDC LCC terminal stations (4X 1500) from Bhadla III and Fatehpur, along with the associated AC substations.”

Adani Expands Transmission Project to Rajasthan

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), a private transmission and distribution company, has won a ₹25,000 crore order. The company is part of the diversified Adani Group portfolio. It recently secured orders for the Bhadla (Rajasthan)-Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) project. Adani received this order from REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL).

Adani Energy Solutions stated in a regulatory filing, “This is AESL’s largest order win to date, bringing its under-execution order book to ₹54,761 crores, with a transmission network of 25,778 ckm and 84,186 MVA transformation capacity. AESL won the project under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism, with REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) serving as the bid process coordinator. The project SPV was formally transferred to AESL on January 20, 2025.”
