Azure Power inaugurates 28 MW solar power plant in Punjab, lays foundation for another 150 MW By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Jun 6th, 2016 Azure Power inaugurated a 28 MW solar power plant in Killianwali village of Muktsar district, Punjab. Simultaneously, the firm laid foundation for another 150 MW solar power project in the same village. The newly operational solar plant was commissioned in less than ten months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). With a combined investment value of Rs.1, 000 crore, these two plants will generate power to meet the electricity requirements of the nearby villages said the company in a statement. These plants are expected to create employment opportunities for an estimated 1000 local workers. The tariffs for these plants range from Rs. 5.62 to 7.33 kWh. Commenting at the inauguration Inderpreet Wadhwa, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Azure Power said “We are delighted to make this contribution towards realization of our Honorable Prime Minister’s commitment towards clean and green energy, through solar power generation.” The company currently has a total solar portfolio of 980+ MW and has the largest operating solar power project under the National Solar Mission, a 100 MW plant in Rajasthan.
