Azure Power commissions 90 MW solar project in Assam By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, May 4th, 2022 Highlights : The 90 MW of solar capacity is spread across four districts in Assam – Udalguri, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Cachar. Azure Power now has an operational capacity of over 2,900 MW of high-performing renewable energy assets in India. Renewable energy major Azure Power has announced that it has successfully commissioned its 90 MW solar power project in Assam, the largest in the state. The 90 MW of solar capacity is spread across four districts in Assam – Udalguri, Kamrup, Nagaon, and Cachar. Azure Power said that the solar power project was commissioned in phases. The final phase of 25 MW has been commissioned in Cachar. The power generated by the plant is being supplied to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited under a long term 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) at a tariff of Rs 3.34 per KWh. The official statement of the company says that following this commissioning, Azure Power now has an operational capacity of over 2,900 MW of high-performing renewable energy assets in India. Pawan Kumar Agrawal, CFO, Azure Power, said, “We are extremely proud of all our teams, especially those at the site. They have displayed tremendous dedication, and tenacity in the face of considerable execution challenges. The project will go a long way in meeting India’s clean energy objectives.” Agrawal added, “The Government of Assam has the vision to transform Assam into a sustainably developed state by 2030. Our project is a step forward in fulfilling this vision of the Government. The aggregate capacity of the upcoming solar projects will be 1000MW across Assam. The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE) has also allocated 250 MW Grid Connected Solar Rooftop projects in Assam by 2022.
