India’s cumulative enlisted domestic solar module manufacturing capacity has now touched 54.70 GW, latest data from the MNRE revealed. As per the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), issued by the MNRE on August 29, India is now home to 94 enlisted solar module manufacturing factories, spread across the country.

The latest list witnessed addition of 4,089 MW of new capacities added by six Indian module manufacturing companies. This included capacity additions by three existing solar module manufacturers-Jakson Engineers (662 MW of new capacity additions), Tata Power Solar (2,697 MW) and SASA Energy (9 MW).

Entry of new players

The latest list also saw enlistment of three new solar module manufacturers–Avaada Electro, Laxmi Solar and Uratom Solar. While Avaada added 554 MW of module manufacturing capacity, Laxmi Solar saw enlistment of 121 MW of capacities, followed by Uratom Solar which added 46 MW of enlisted capacity.

With the new solar module manufacturing capacity additions by three existing players and three new players, the country saw India’s solar module manufacturing capacity (ALMM enlisted) moving from 50.8 GW (from the last ALMM List Of July 2024) to 54.70 GW.

On the other hand, two companies namely-Neety Euro Asia and Shivam Solar which featured in the last ALMM list were seen missing from the current list. While Neety Euro had a capacity of 28 MW, Shivam Solar had a capacity of 30 MW.

Tata Power Adds 2.6 GW of New Capacities

One of the major takeaways from the list is the addition of 2,697 MW of new solar module manufacturing capacity from the Tamil Nadu-based factory of Tata Power (TP) Solar. With the addition of the new capacities, the cumulative capacities of Tata Power (Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd+TP Solar Ltd) moved from its existing 3,196 MW to 5,893 MW..

With the latest capacity enhancement, Tata Power has become the second largest player in the ALMM with a total capacity of 5.8 GW. The only solar module manufacturer in ALMM above Tata Power is Waaree Energies with a total enlisted capacity of 10.77 GW, the latest ALMM list revealed.
