In its latest investors call, the management expressed confidence on its position amid the presence of foreign wind energy companies. The firm attributed this to their existing clients and prices. When talked about the competitions from companies like Vestas or Envision, Suzlon’s Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) J P Chalasani also admitted that one firm alone cannot fulfil the expected rise in wind capacity demands in the future. “I don’t think so when the pie is increasing to 9 to 10 gigawatts. Obviously, I don’t think we are even dreaming that we can deliver 9 to 10 gigawatts in FY’27. There is going to be a significant capacity for everybody. And then the — on the price point of it, I think we are definitely cheaper than the European suppliers,” Chalasani said. He also added, “And whatever is there, with Envision or others that even today, they’re there in the market, existing, but you can see our market share in terms of orders. We have our own set of customers, especially in the C&I segment. So the simplest way to answer is, we don’t see competition pressure in the next 2 years.” The management told its investors that FY24 was overwhelming for the firm in terms of its order. The company received its largest order of 3.3 GW. This included an order book of 2.9 GW till March 31, 2024 and a 402 MW of orders in May. The company also said that the India’s wind installations also saw a major installations of 3.3 GW, the highest since FY27. The company’s installation registered more than 75% YoY growth to 882 MW in FY24. Suzlon also expects installation of around 5 GW of wind energy in India in FY25. “…if you remember in FY24, we have always been saying anywhere between 3.5 to 4 gigawatts. And our expectation for FY’25 is it could be anywhere up to 5 gigawatts, between 4.5 to 5 gigawatts. And normally, like our always claim was that market share is different figure than what we expect to do it. But we’ve been always in the range of 25% to 30% is our market share. So if we look at this year, our market share has 27%.” Chalasani added in the investors call. Tags: India, Investors, Suzlon, Trends, Wind
