Argeo Signs MoU with Orsted, BlueFloat, Renantis to Survey 1 GW Floating Wind Site By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Mar 20th, 2023 Highlights : Norway-based offshore firm Argeo has entered into an agreement with Stromar consortium that comprises of Ørsted, Renantis and BlueFloat Energy. United Caps Joins Hands with Italian Firm Renantis' 46.8 MW Wind Farm Norway-based offshore firm Argeo has entered into an agreement with Stromar consortium that comprises of Ørsted, Renantis and BlueFloat Energy. The agreement will pave the way for the Norwegian firm to undertake the geophysical survey of the 1 GW Stromar floating wind site off the Scotland coast that extends to 256sq km. The goal of the consortium is to curb greenhouse gas emissions, both for the life cycle of the wind farm as well as survey activities. Argeo will bring dowm the survey vessel emissions by as much as 95 per cent. Set to begin in the third quarter of 2023, it will subject to permits, and will entail the option for a related export cable route (ECR) survey. “Stromar is an exciting venture in offshore wind, and I’m very pleased that the consortium chose Argeo for their first commercial survey with an uncrewed surface vessel,” remarked Vice President of Sales in Argeo, Ruben Kornmo Janssen, while adding, “This shows that we are developing attractive technology and can offer cost efficient and environmentally friendly solutions to the offshore wind market going forward.” Project Director of Stromar, Nicholas Ritchie, stated, “Ensuring Stromar leads the way in floating wind as part of the transition to renewable energy is of paramount importance. We’re determined that every aspect contributes to our net zero future, even from survey stage to demonstrate our commitment to a truly green future.” Tags: BlueFloat Energy, Floating Wind, life cycle of the wind farm, offshore firm Argeo, offshore wind, Orsted, Renantis, Stromar consortium, Stromar floating wind site, uncrewed surface vessel, venture in offshore wind
