Mumbai-based integrated energy solutions provider, Apraava Energy, has commissioned a 250.7 MW wind power project (comprising 120 no. of 2.1MW rated Suzlon WTGs). The project is located at Sidhpur in Devbhoomi Dwaraka district, Gujarat. The project was awarded to Apraava Energy as part of the Tranche VIII wind tender sponsored by Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). With this addition, Apraava’s operational wind portfolio now stands at ~1200 MW.

Commenting on this achievement, Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Managing Director of Apraava Energy, said, “As early adopters of wind energy in India, this milestone further solidifies our foothold in the wind industry. I am incredibly proud of our team, our OEM partner, Suzlon, and our local project development partners for their dedication to maintain the highest operational standards in completing this project. Gujarat.”

Sidhpur Wind Project

The Sidhpur wind project has secured a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with SECI for 25 years at a competitive tariff of INR 2.83/kWh. The project incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, such as advanced fire suppression systems and sophisticated condition monitoring systems for wind turbine generators (WTGs).

Apraava’s community interventions in the Sidhpur region cover the integrated development of 12 villages with a specific focus on livelihood, water and sanitation, and women empowerment. Key activities include strengthening village institutions, farm-based livelihood management, building water security in the area and natural resources management, youth skilling initiatives, and working with women’s self-help groups.

In addition to the Sidhpur wind project, Apraava operates two wind projects: 50.4 MW in Mahidad and 100.8 MW in Samana. The company has also recently been awarded a project to install ~ 2.3 million smart meters in Gujarat. Two decades ago, Apraava began its journey in India by operating a 655 MW gas-based combined-cycle power plant in Bharuch, Gujarat, and successfully completed its tenure under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
