The 7kw solar plant has been launched by Minister of Electricity, Kerala, K.Krishnankutty. The project is valued at Rs 25 L. The project has been inaugurated by the Agency for Non-Conventional Energy and Rural Technology (ANERT). Thr solar cold storage has been installed at Agricultural Urban Wholesale Market, Anayara, Thiruvananthapuram as part of the Solar City Scheme. The project employs thermal storage which enables cooling in the absence of sun up to 30 hours. The provision of grid connectivity present in case of incessant rains. The farmers will have the option to regulate the temperature through a mobile application and monitor the working remotely. The decentralised solar powered cold storage units are a solution to prevent post harvest losses. ANERT has been on a spree to power up Kerala with renewable energy, especially in remote areas. Recently, it awarded the project for a 50kW wind-solar hybrid power plant in a reclusive tribal hamlet via competitive bidding. The project for the hybrid power plant has helped electrify 44 houses, 15 streetlights and one Anganwadi centre. A few days back, it also inaugurated five fast EV charging stations in the state of Kerala in order to keep pace with the fast-growing EV Market in the state.
