These initiatives have facilitated over 160 wind and solar projects across 13 European countries. These entail 24 utility-scale wind and solar projects. Amazon is also developing its first solar farm in Greece. In 2022, Amazon’s had set up its first utility-scale solar farm in Poland. So far, Amazon has added renewable energy capacity exceeding 1 GW of capacity across European grids. These initiatives have facilitated over 160 wind and solar projects across 13 European countries. 5.8 GW of clean energy capacity will be enabled once the projects are operational and boast the ability to power more than 4.9 million British households every year. Lindsay McQuade, Director of Energy, EMEA at Amazon, stated, “With more than 160 wind and solar projects in Europe, Amazon is helping to provide new sources of clean energy to local grids, creating jobs, and supporting local businesses as we progress toward powering our operations with 100% renewable energy by 2025.” She added, “Corporate investment is an important catalyst to help transition toward a clean energy future, and we look forward to continuing to work with governments, local communities, and energy providers across Europe to deliver more renewable energy into local grids.” Amazon added a remarkable capacity of 8.3 GW in 2022 in terms of renewable energy.
