Amara Raja Group commissions 1.2MW rooftop solar project at Nunegundlapalli

At an event held on the occasion of Amara Raja Skill Development Centre’s first batch convocation, Dr Ramachandra N Galla, Chairman, Amara Raja Group announced the commission of a 1.2MW rooftop solar unit at the plant located at Nunegundlapalli village near Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh.

The project is spread over 1,00,000 sq ft, and is one of the largest single contiguous rooftop projects in India. Amara Raja Power Systems Ltd ((ARPSL), executed the project on the battery plant of Amara Raja Batteries Ltd.

It has been installed over a single industrial metal PUF trapezoidal roof, and will be generating more than 5000 units per day. With over 4,15,000 units generated over a period of 3 months, the rooftop installation has translated into a savings of over Rs 25 lakh. The estimated payback is pegged at 6 years.

Also, ARPSL has been working on an evacuation line for the 1,500 MW Ultra Mega Solar Power evacuation at N P Kunta in Ananthapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The project was proposed by the Centre under the JNNSM, with 250 MW established in the phase I and the remaining 1250 MW scheduled for completion over the next 12 months.

First batch of Skill Development Centre celebrates convocation

Students at Amara Raja Skill Development Centre have completed their skill training course, which was set up with an investment of Rs 30 crore at Pettamitta in Tirupati.

The success of this centre has motivated the Amara Raja Group to open another Skill Development Centre at Diguvamagham, and one at Guntur- both in Andhra Pradesh. The first batch at Tirupati centre was awarded ‘Multi Skill Technician’ Certificates at the convocation.

The 24-month programme has been designed to impart technical skills, and also encourage students to indulge in team work, showcasing disciplined and good behaviour.
