Noida-based Alpex Solar will be setting up its second solar panel manufacturing facility in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. The company said it has got the approval from Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA)  to secure 7 acres of land in Mathura for which the payment will be done soon.

According to Alpex Solar, the firm secured the land through e-auction conducted by UPSIDA.

“Land in Mathura is a significant development for the company’s expansion plans. The location provides easy access to logistics and vendor support,” said Ashwani Sehgal, the managing director of Alpex Solar on securing Mathura land for the factory.

Last month, Alpex Solar Limited announced that it had secured an order from the Department of New & Renewable Energy Haryana (HAREDA), under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM Scheme), for the provision of 1434 solar water pumping systems. The second order entails setting up 589 pumps with a contract value of Rs. 17.21 crore.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh has Solar Energy Policy 2022 Policy which aims to achieve a target of 22000MW solar power projects till 2026-27. The state will develop Solar Power Projects for captive consumption and sale of power to third parties.

According to a media report, India installed 20.8 GW of solar modules and 3.2 GW of cell manufacturing capacity in 2023. Gujarat led the photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing capacity in the country, accounting for 46.1 percent of solar modules. Telangana accounted for 39 percent of annual solar cell production capacity.
