Indian solar module manufacturer Alpex Solar Ltd has announced the onboarding of Indian cricketing legend Rahul Dravid as its first-ever brand ambassador. Dravid, a former captain and head coach of the Indian national cricket team, joins Alpex Solar at a time when several solar companies are leveraging cricketers to boost awareness about clean energy and enhance brand visibility.

Speaking about the association, Rahul Dravid said: “I am happy to be a part of Alpex Solar’s journey. What connects us is the company’s strong vision for a sustainable future and its commitment to excellence over the past two decades. I look forward to this partnership and contributing to its vision.”

Renowned for his adaptability and resilience across all cricketing formats, Dravid’s illustrious career spanned over two decades. He played 164 Test matches, 344 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and one T20I, amassing 24,177 runs in international cricket. As head coach, he guided the Indian team to victory in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Celebrity Endorsements in Clean Energy

In recent years, solar companies have increasingly roped in celebrities to promote clean energy. Firms like Saatvik Solar, Rayzon Solar, Navitas Solar, Pahal Solar, Livguard, Luminous, and Amplus have collaborated with notable figures including Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, and Gauri Khan. Additionally, IPL teams like Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Titans have been sponsored by clean energy companies, further boosting awareness of renewable energy initiatives.

As Alpex Solar’s brand ambassador, Dravid will play a key role in endorsing the company’s initiatives to promote renewable energy and encourage the adoption of solar power. His association is expected to amplify Alpex Solar’s outreach, connecting the brand with environmentally conscious homeowners and enterprises aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.

Alpex Solar’s Expansion Plans

Alpex Solar is pursuing an ambitious expansion program to increase its production capacity. The company plans to enhance its photovoltaic (PV) solar module capacity to 2.4 GW and aluminum frame production to 12,000 tons. Additionally, Alpex is venturing into solar cell manufacturing with a target of 1.6 GW capacity by September 2026. The company is also eyeing opportunities in global EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) projects and the emerging green hydrogen market.

Commenting on the appointment, Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director of Alpex Solar Ltd, said: “It is truly an honour to onboard Rahul Dravid as Alpex Solar’s first brand ambassador. His contribution to the cricketing world has been etched in gold. Still, more importantly, the humility, perseverance, and quality he has displayed on and off the field serve as an example to generations and place him in a rare club of global sports legends. We are ecstatic to associate with him in our pursuit of emerging as the most dependable, well-rounded player in the rapidly evolving global solar landscape in the future.”
