Ahmedabad’s Matter Energy Unveils Geared Electric Motorcycle

A geared electric motorcycle was unveiled by Matter Energy, an Ahmedabad-based provider of integrated energy solutions. Orders will soon be accepted, and delivery will start in April 2023. In addition to exporting to markets in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, it intends to open 200 dealerships in significant cities during the following 12 months.

According to Matter Group’s founder and CEO Mohal Lalbhai, “The business intends to compete in a market where other companies are mostly focused on making electric scooters. Bikes make up roughly 1.4–1.5 crore of the roughly 2 crore two-wheelers sold each year in the nation. If we continue to concentrate solely on the scooter market, how will the transition to electric technology take place? We decided to bring this geared electric bike because of this.”

He further added, “The vertical has enormous growth potential because there is currently no other significant competitor in the electric bike market. Because it is a void, our internal goal is to scale up more quickly. No one is present in this 40-odd lakh per year market.”

The bike can be charged using a standard 5 Amp connection and has a range of 125–150 kilometers on a single charge. According to the report, the company has already finalised 50 sales outlets and anticipates having 200 dealerships within the following 12 months. Regarding his intentions to export. They intend to market this product internationally in two years. Opportunities abound in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. In Ahmedabad, Matter has established a manufacturing plant with a production capacity of 60,000 units annually that may be increased to 1.5–1.7 lakh units.

The bike has 5 kWh of power, liquid-cooled technology, and several linked features, according to the manufacturer, who also calls it the first geared electric bike in the nation.
