AEP Energy Partners Seeking Wind and Solar Energy Projects in PJM

AEP Energy Partners (AEPEP), a subsidiary of American Electric Power Company (AEP) is seeking proposals for off-take from new solar and new or repowered wind facilities located in PJM.

The firm has announced that it is seeking renewable energy purchase agreements of 10, 12 or 15 years for facilities that begin operation between 2020 and 2023. While also adding that proposals with alternative terms will also be accepted.

The firm will use the contracted offtake to support its growing retail and wholesale loads in PJM, including the executed long-term retail supply agreement with Google LLC and the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.

As per the request for proposals issued by the company, the notice of intent to bid must be received by AEPEP latest by Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020, and the proposal packages should be submitted online by August 28, 2020.

American Electric Power, based in Columbus, Ohio, is focused on building smarter energy infrastructure and delivering new technologies and custom energy solutions to our customers. It is one of the nation’s largest electricity producers with approximately 30,000 megawatts of diverse generating capacity, including more than 5,200 megawatts of renewable energy.

For context, PJM is a regional transmission organization (RTO) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia.

In November 2019, AEPEP had issued a similar RfP seeking proposals for off-take from new solar and new or repowered wind facilities located in PJM. All the terms and conditions of the RfP were similar to those of the new one issued recently.

The firm had also stated that the tome that the contracted off-take to support the company’s growing retail and wholesale loads in PJM, including the long-term retail supply agreement with Google LLC to supply their New Albany, Ohio data centre with dedicated renewable energy.
