Adyant Enersol, UPC Renewables Win SJVN’s 170 MW Wind Energy Project

Highlights :

  • The tender for this project was released in March 2024 and the results were released in 10 months.
  • Winning bids at Rs 3.98 indicate pressure on prices, one reason why SJVN has not gone beyond 170 MW in awarding the bids.

SJVN has announced Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) and UPC Renewables as the winners of its 600 MW wind energy project. These winners are expected to develop inter-state transmission system (ISTS)–connected wind power projects on a build-own-operate basis. The tender for this project was released in March 2024, and the results were announced after 10 months.

According to the tender results, SJVN awarded a 170 MW project out of the total 600 MW wind project. As per the tender announcement, Adyant Enersol secured a 70 MW wind project at a tariff of ₹3.98/kWh, while UPC Renewables won a 100 MW wind project at ₹3.99/kWh. The relatively high prices are probably a reason why SJVN did not go beyond 170 MW for awarding the tender.

Company Name Capacity Awarded (MW) Tariff (₹/kWh)
Adyant Enersol 70 MW Rs.3.98
UPC Renewables 100 MW Rs.3.99

Previous Tenders A Brief Comparison

The tariff quoted for SJVN’s latest tender is higher than its previous tenders. Last year, SECI awarded a 1,350 MW ISTS-connected wind power project across Gujarat, Karnataka, and Rajasthan. The project was allotted to JSW Neo Energy (JSW Energy), Powerica, and Torrent Energy. JSW and Powerica were awarded 700 MW and 50 MW, respectively. JSW secured the project at ₹3.61/kWh, while Powerica won it at ₹3.70/kWh. Torrent Energy received a 100 MW project at a tariff of ₹3.60/kWh. The highest bid for that project, awarded to Powerica at ₹3.70/kWh, is lower than SJVN’s latest tender result.

Similarly, the tariff for SJVN’s project is higher than Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited’s (GUVNL) 200 MW wind energy tender, which was awarded to Juniper Green Energy, Jakson Green, and RIH Renewables (EDF Renewables). GUVNL awarded the project to Juniper at ₹3.56/kWh for 50 MW, followed by RIH Renewables, which secured 40 MW at ₹3.59/kWh, and Jakson, which received a 50 MW project at ₹3.63/kWh. These companies secured the project under Phase VIII in Gujarat.

The project size was later reduced to 200 MW accordingly. According to the tender results, Juniper won a 50 MW wind project at ₹3.56/kWh, followed by RIH Renewables, which secured 40 MW at ₹3.59/kWh, and Jakson, which received a 50 MW project at ₹3.63/kWh.
