Adani Total Energies to Steer EV Charging in Kanpur Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL) has inked an agreement with Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) with an aim to encourage e-mobility in Kanpur. Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between ATEL and the Municipal Corporation of Kanpur, the emobility firm will be responsible for setting up EV charging stations at 18 major locations in Kanpur city. The announcement follows the news of the tie up of the Municipal Corporation with the Tata Power EV Charging Solutions. The EV arm of Tata Power will look into the installation of 12 electric vehicle charging stations across six strategic locations in Kanpur. The Uttar Pradesh Government has set sights on the establishment of EV charging stations across several municipal cities, such as Agra, Lucknow, Kanpur, and Prayagraj. These will also encompass 100 electric vehicle charging stations at heritage sites and about 200 EV charging stations at tourist destinations like Mathura-Vrindavan and Varanasi-Ayodhya. The plan also entails the set up of 400 charging stations in national and state parks across the state. Among several notable initiatives introduced in Uttar Pradesh with a view to give an impetus to the EV charging infrastructure include a recent agreement of the state government with EV charger manufacturer Servotech Power Systems Ltd. to set up an EV charger manufacturing plant in the state along with backward integration. As per the World Resource Institute, the registration of electric vehicles in Uttar Pradesh in the last year had witnessed a jump of 144 percent. The data shared by the clean energy think tank claimed that the three-wheelers segment of EVs in the state is spearheading the EV market share in the eastern Indian state.
