Adani Renewable Energy recently operationalized its new 250 MW of energy wind energy capacities at the Khavda Renewable Park in Gujarat, touted to be world’s largest renewable energy park. This comes after the Indian renewable company announced operationalizing 1 Gigawatt (GW) of solar capacities at Khavda. The firm has plans to add 30 GW of renewable capacities at Khavda. With the addition of the new capacities, the Rann of Kutch region has got a fillip. 

The new plant features on-shore wind turbines with a capacity of 5.2 MW. With this development, the total operational capacity at Khavda now stands at 2,250 MW. Khavda, touted as Adani’s most ambitious green project till date has seen a surge not only in solar projects but wind projects too. The operationalization of Adani Renewable Energy, a wholly-owned step-down subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Limited’s recent project has made Khavda a hotspot for wind projects in Gujarat. Khavda is said to have a size five times of the total size of Paris.

Khavda As Hotbed For Renewable Energy Projects

Notwithstanding, the commitments and plans of Adani Renewable, Khavda has also seen pouring in of clean energy investments from other renewable energy companies too. This year, Khavda witnessed escalation of its renewable energy projects with the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for a 200 MW solar project within the Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) ‘s renewable energy (RE) park at Khavda (GSECL Stage-3). The cascading number of tendering for renewable energy projects at Khavda has led to an increase in the confidence among investors as well.

The company already boasts of 648 MW of Kamuthi Solar Park in Tamil Nadu besides flaunting its 2.1 GW of green energy capacities in Rajasthan. Now it has eyes on Khavda with the plan to add 30 GW of green capacities alone. As a major player in renewable energy, Adani Green Energy boasts a total renewable portfolio of over 21.9 GW, with more than 10.9 GW already operational. The company is currently constructing around 10.5 GW of solar capacity and its operational capacity of approximately 7.4 GW. Adani Green’s wind energy projects under construction account for over 1 GW, while its operational wind capacity stands at 1.4 GW.

Moreover, the company backed by India’s corporate honcho-Gautam Adani has also ventured into hybrid projects, with over 2.1 GW of operational capacity and 600 MW of under-construction projects. The green tech company has also indicated its confidence in adding 2-3 GW of fresh green capacities each year until 2026, before accelerating further.
