ACCIONA Energía To Build 412MW Solar Plant In Rajasthan By Akash Dhiman/ Updated On Thu, Feb 15th, 2024 Highlights : As per the press release by the company, the project will be commissioned by 2025. ReNew In Talks With Sembcorp To Sell 350 MW Assets: Report Spain-based renewable energy company ACCIONA Energía has announced that it will build a new 412MWp photovoltaic project in the state of Rajasthan. As per the press release by the company, the project will be commissioned by 2025. The solar farm will consist of around 750,000 photovoltaic modules of 545Wp each. It will produce around 800GWh of green electricity annually, enough to power 840,000 households, and will avoid the emission of 724,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, claimed ACCIONA Energia. The new solar plant will be ACCIONA Energía’s largest project in India, where it already owns and operates four wind farms. The project will be included in ACCIONA Energy’s Social Impact Management program, designed to support education, welfare, and environmental care programs in the communities in which it operates. India is the fourth largest power market in the world in terms of installed capacity, with 42 percent cumulative installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources. Its target of 500GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 puts it among the most promising countries in the world for renewable energy growth. The installed solar energy capacity in India has increased by 30 times in the last 9 years and Rajasthan has the highest cumulative large-scale solar installations, with over 18GW by the end of 2023. The solar power installed in this region represents approximately 25% of India’s cumulative utility-scale solar capacity. According to data shared in the Parliament, a total of 10576 solar projects have been commissioned in the country with which Rajasthan has commissioned the largest projects of about 3065 MW out of sanctioned projects of 9568 MW for 10 parks, followed by Andra Pradesh with 3050 MW project out of 4200 MW for five parks, Karnataka with 2000 MW project with sanction capacity of 2500 for two projects and Madhya Pradesh with 1000 MW project with sanctioned capacity of 4780 MW for nine projects. States like Rajasthan and Gujarat have taken the lion’s share in hosting solar parks. For example, Gujarat has the highest sanctioned capacity of 12,150 MW from seven state solar parks. It is followed by Rajasthan, which has a total sanctioned capacity of 8,276 MW coming from nine such solar parks in the state.
