A Residential Complex in Lokhandwala, Andheri Installs 120 solar panels By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Jul 25th, 2016 A residential complex in Lokhandwala, Andheri (West) goes solar to cut annual electricity bill. The residents have installed 120 solar panels on the rooftop of 16-storeyed Cliff Tower apartment. It is expected to reduce carbon footprint and dependency on the electricity grid. The installed solar panels generate 30 kilowatt (kW) solar energy per hour which is used to light up the common areas, passage, terrace and compound lights, it is also used to power three lifts and five water pumps in the complex. The monthly bill of the apartment was Rs. 55,000, now it saves Rs. 50,000 every month said secretary of the Cliff Tower. The society has also installed a net metering system. The society spent Rs. 23 lakh to set up the project that will be recovered over the next four years and it does not require any maintenance fee for 25 years.
