9.6 GW Of Renewable Capacity Under Construction: NTPC By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Jan 2nd, 2025 9.6 GW Of Renewable Capacity Under Construction: NTPC Indian power behemoth NTPC Limited said it has around 9.6 GW of renewable energy projects under construction. The Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) furnished the information while discussing its capacity additions in Q3 of FY25. The company said that it recorded a generation of 326 BU (Billion Units) at the end of the third quarter (Q3) of FY 2024-25, registering a growth of 3.82% compared to the corresponding period in the previous financial year. By the end of calendar year 2024, NTPC Group’s installed capacity stands at 76,598 MW with an addition of 2,724 MW during the year. NTPC coal stations achieved a cumulative Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 76.20% by the end of the third quarter (Q3) of FY 2024-25. “These accomplishments reinforce NTPC’s commitment to delivering reliable and affordable power to the nation,” the company said in a media statement. “Apart from the operational capacity of 76.6 GW, an additional 29.5 GW capacity including 9.6 GW Renewable capacity is under construction. The company is committed to achieving 60 GW of Renewable Energy capacity by 2032,” NTPC said in a statement. NTPC is now trying to boost its renewable portfolio with several clean energy projects ranging from utility-scale projects, floating solar, rooftop solar, Pumped Hydro Projects (PSP), either through itself or through its subsidiary firms. Along with power generation, NTPC has also ventured into various new business areas including e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, Waste-to-Energy, Green Hydrogen solutions etc. and participated in the bidding for power distribution of Union Territories.
