The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission has given its nod to an amendment in the existing Power Purchase Agreement which was drafted by Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (APSPDCL). The respondent in the case, Waaneep Solar, did not object to the relief granted to APSPDCL by the commission. Earlier, APSPDCL had proposed to the commission to incorporate certain amendments in the PPA and implement the orders of APERC dated June 14, 2018. “The adoption of the lower tariff of Rs.3.74 per kWh and taking the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date as 02-08-2018, the actual date of commissioning of the project are in tune with the said orders of the Commission,” the order said. Waaneep had entered into a power purchase agreement with APSPDCL at a tariff of Rs 5.76/kWh for a 25 MW solar power project whose scheduled commercial operation date was fixed to be March 31, 2016. The commission also mentioned that Waaneep Solar had the advantage of having the Power Purchase Agreement between the parties restored to life, but the delay in commissioning of the project as originally agreed upon was the reason the commission agreed upon the amendments.
