Working Towards Making Solar Affordable For Masses: Karan Singh (Evolve) Working Towards Making Solar Affordable For Masses: Karan Singh (Evolve)

How has the journey of Evolve Energy been in India? What are the key factors driving its growth?

Evolve Energy’s expansion across India and overseas has been driven by its integrated business model, which spans the manufacturing of solar components to the construction and operation of power plants. This end-to-end structure has provided customers with a streamlined experience, helping the company differentiate itself in a competitive market. A consistent focus on product quality and reliability has also played a key role, building customer trust and driving repeat business. The company has responded swiftly to evolving technologies and policy shifts, while partnerships with key industry players have enhanced project execution. Evolve plans to invest in research and development, expand into new markets, and deepen customer engagement through service and support, while contributing to broader sustainability and net-zero goals.

How do you expect the launch of SMART modules with inbuilt optimizers, along with bifacial and BIPV products, to reshape the Indian solar market?

Evolve sees the introduction of SMART modules, bifacial panels, and BIPV systems as a turning point for the Indian solar sector. SMART modules, which include inbuilt optimizers, are designed to improve energy output in areas with shading or performance inconsistencies—common challenges in many Indian locations. Bifacial panels, capable of generating electricity from both sides, are particularly effective in high-reflectivity settings such as rooftops and sandy environments. Building-integrated photovoltaics offer an energy solution that merges with building design, making them suitable for space-constrained urban areas. These technologies are expected to drive demand for more efficient, aesthetically integrated, and site-adaptable solar systems across the country.

How does EVVOSOLAR’s 350 MW production line impact efficiency, quality, and delivery timelines?

Evolve Energy’s automated production line, currently at 350 MW and being scaled up to 500 MW, is designed to enhance manufacturing consistency and reduce human error. The automation ensures uniform quality across modules, faster production cycles, and reliable delivery schedules. It also enables the company to scale operations efficiently while maintaining quality standards. The hands-free setup helps streamline logistics, reduce lead times, and support timely execution of large-scale projects.

How are you enhancing the performance of your monocrystalline, polycrystalline, and Mono PERC modules?

The company is deploying several technologies to improve the durability and efficiency of its module offerings. These include advanced cell designs, anti-reflective coatings, and improved encapsulants for protection against heat and moisture. Passivation techniques and enhanced temperature control mechanisms help improve energy retention, while quality checks are conducted at each stage of production. These measures aim to deliver consistent performance across different climatic zones in India and extend the lifespan of the modules.

How do you want to promote BIPV systems?

With cities facing space constraints, building-integrated photovoltaics are gaining relevance. Evolve is developing BIPV systems that balance design and functionality, working with architects, developers, and city officials to promote integration into new and existing structures. The company aims to make BIPV solutions accessible and scalable, supporting the transformation of urban architecture into energy-generating assets.

How has your partnership with SIDBI and SBI’s advanced solar financing?

The tie-up with SIDBI and the Surya Shakti Scheme has helped small businesses and homeowners access solar power through affordable financing. Lower interest rates and flexible repayment terms have eased adoption, enabling more users to invest in solar systems and reduce dependence on conventional energy sources. The initiative complements Evolve’s turnkey approach, broadening its customer base while contributing to national clean energy goals.

What other initiatives or financing models are you exploring?

Evolve is introducing various financial options, including zero-down payment loans, lease-to-own models, and power purchase agreements. The company is also developing community solar programs and exploring microfinance solutions aimed at rural and low-income households. By working with government agencies and NGOs, Evolve seeks to offer subsidized solutions that remove upfront cost barriers and make solar power accessible across socioeconomic groups.

Coming from a machine tool background, how has that shaped your operational strategies?

A background in the machine tool industry has informed Evolve’s focus on precision, lean processes, and automation. These principles have been applied to solar manufacturing and project execution, helping to reduce inefficiencies and optimize production. The emphasis on quality control and systemized operations has underpinned the company’s ability to scale rapidly while maintaining reliability.

How do you ensure long-term performance and customer satisfaction?

The company ensures longevity through high-quality components tested for extreme weather and site conditions. Each system is tailored to the installation environment, and real-time monitoring helps identify performance issues early. In-house manufacturing allows greater quality control, and comprehensive warranties are backed by long-term service support. Transparent communication with customers ensures clarity on system expectations, maintenance needs, and lifecycle performance, with Evolve positioning itself as a long-term energy partner rather than a one-time provider.
