Fortum’s target is to increase its solar power production significantly. The company’s first 5 MW solar PV plant is in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Fortum’s second project, and its first greenfield solar plant, is a 10 MW Solar PV plant in Kapeli, Madhya Pradesh, and it was built under Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) – Phase II, Batch I. JNNSM is an initiative by the Government of India to boost the nation’s solar capabilities. Fortum has been recognized by the Central and State governments for its commitment and efforts towards the solar industry in India. Early this year in March Fortum signed PPA with NTPC for 70MW solar PV plant in Rajasthan.
