IRENA Report: Indonesia Energy Transition Outlook By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Nov 9th, 2022 A study titled “Indonesia Energy Transition Outlook” has been released by the IRENA (The International Renewable Energy Agency). This report offers an extensive, long-term energy roadmap that emphasises renewable energy sources for Indonesia’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system. The energy transition depends on Indonesia. As one of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members with the largest energy consumption, it is projected that over the next few decades, as its population and economy expand, so will its energy consumption. Indonesia is in a unique position to establish a sustainable energy system based on renewable energy that can promote economic development, address climate change, and achieve energy security, universalization, and affordability goals because of its wealth of renewable resources. This country-level Indonesia Energy Transition Outlook, which draws from IRENA’s Renewable Readiness Assessment, Renewable Energy Roadmap toolkit (RE-map), and Power System Flexibility Assessment to chart potential energy pathways to 2050, complements IRENA’s global (World Energy Transitions Outlook) and regional renewable energy outlooks (such as the Renewable Energy Outlook for ASEAN). This outlook offers a thorough, long-term energy pathway that emphasises renewable energy sources for Indonesia’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system. It examines the electrification of end-use sectors, the quick uptake of renewable energy, energy efficiency measures, the function of cutting-edge technologies like clean hydrogen and batteries, as well as the significance of enhancing regional power sector integration, both within the nation and with surrounding nations. Additionally, it offers investment opportunities and technical pathways tailored to particular industries that will speed up Indonesia’s energy transition. It summarises the main issues and offers suggestions to help Indonesia achieve a fair and sustainable energy transition. IRENA Report: Renewable Energy Targets in 2022 Also Read
