Uttar Pradesh to See Rise in the Installation of Rooftop Solar Panels

Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Agency has given approval for the installation of solar panels around the Allahabad districts.

The Allahabad is fast emerging as a solar energy hub. The clearance approved by UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Agency) instructs different institutions of the district suitable for the installation of solar panels.

The selected institutions will be selling the surplus solar energy to the northern grid. Along the lines of a project at Gujarat, an area of 100 hectare has been identified at Kosada village of Meja tehsil on which a solar park is being constructed to produce 50 Megawatt of energy. The work for installing solar panels has already begun. With most of the work done, the park would become functional by August, Mohammad Shahid, an engineer of NEDA told TOI.

Also, there are various other institutions that have either started installing solar panels or have executed the work order for fixing them on rooftops. The solar system installed on the terrace of Vikas Bhawan generate 70KW of electricity.

Around Rs 75 lakh fund has been sanctioned for the installation of solar panels at Police Lines which will be producing 130KW of electricity in future. Moreover, solar power system with capacity to produce 50KW of electricity would be installed at the Office of Commissioner, Allahabad division.

The rooftops of the building of Allahabad High Court will also be adorned with solar panels with capacity to produce 300KW of electricity, while the building of Allahabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will get solar system for 110KW of electricity. Further, IIT-A will be installed with a 300 KW rooftop plant connected to the power grid at the boys’ hostel. According to the report, 940 solar panels and 10 inverters are expected to be installed on the roof of Fifth Boys Hostel of the institute that would start generation of power from May.
