Tata Motors will supply 5000 electric vehicles to Lithium Urban Technologies

Tata Motors will supply 5000 electric vehicles to Lithium Urban Technologies

Tata Motors has agreed with Bengaluru-based and Eversource Capital owned Lithium Urban Technologies which will deploy 5000 Xpres T Electric Sedans throughout India for the transportation of employees. Lithium Urban Technologies provides urban transportation services but only with electric vehicles. Tata Motors has informed that the deliveries of the electric vehicles will be done in phases and it will be completed by 2023.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “With the ‘Xpres-T’ EV sedan, we have created a new benchmark in the fleet market. Targeted at mobility services, corporate and government fleet customers, the Xpres-T EV offers an optimal battery size, captive fast charging solution, which will ensure outstandingly low cost of ownership in addition to safety and passenger comfort.”

Tata Motors had launched the ‘Xpres-T’ EV Sedan in July last year. Two range options of 213 km and 165km are offered by the automaker in the electric sedan. The energy density of the battery pack is kept high at 21.5 kWh and 16.5 kWh. The EV can be charged 0-80 per cent in 90 minutes and 110 minutes respectively by employing fast charging systems. The batteries can also be charged from any 15 A plug point.

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), Tata Motors has more than 85 per cent share of India’s electric vehicle market. In the last financial year, Tata Motors sold 15,198 electric vehicles as against 3,523 in 2020-21.

Lithium Urban Technologies says that it operates the most productive electric vehicle fleet globally and its India’s first zero emission transport service provider. It presently has a fleet strength of 400. Last year it had acquired SmartCommute which is an end-to-end employee transport software provider to heighten its clean mobility services.
