Sineng Electric Commissions 50MW/200MWh Microgrid BESS By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Fri, Feb 14th, 2025 Sineng Electric Commissions 50MW/200MWh Microgrid BESS Sineng Electric has announced the commissioning of a 50MW/200MWh microgrid battery energy storage system (BESS). This source-grid-load-storage integrated project imposes stringent requirements for grid-forming energy storage solutions. As part of the 6.1 GW renewable energy base in Xinjiang, the microgrid project spans nearly 1,000 square kilometers. It operates across off-grid, grid-following, and grid-forming modes, featuring functionalities such as voltage and frequency regulation, fault ride-through (FRT), and black start capabilities. Central to the project are 20 units of Sineng’s 2.5 MW central PCS MV turnkey stations with VSG technology. This solution enables seamless switching across three operating modes and control algorithms. It caters to diverse application scenarios, including rural communities, islands, remote mines, oil and gas facilities, offshore areas, railway systems, industrial parks, and more. Despite being located over 80 kilometers from the nearest power source, this project addresses critical energy challenges such as limited grid access, high operational costs, and heavy reliance on diesel. Sineng’s solution offers a transformative approach to clean and cost-effective energy supply. “Sineng Electric’s leadership in microgrid energy storage is embodied in this project,” said Zhengmao Jiang, Vice President of Sineng Electric. “Our grid-forming energy storage technology has consistently proven its effectiveness across diverse applications, delivering continuous value to our customers. Through cutting-edge innovations and an unwavering commitment to advancing clean energy solutions, Sineng Electric is leading the way in building resilient, low-carbon energy ecosystems.” Ladakh: Solar-Hydrogen-Microgrid To Supply Power To Indian Army Also Read Tags: BESS, energy storage system, International, Sineng Electric, Zhengmao Jiang
