Bengaluru provided most of the talent to the electric vehicle industry with 62 per cent share, followed by New Delhi with 12 per cent, Pune with 9 per cent and Coimbatore with 6 per cent. A new study by CIEL Human Resources Services has revealed that the employment growth in the electric vehicle segment in the past two years has been a staggering 108 per cent. As far as different trades of works are concerned, the report found that the engineering department was dominant in hiring. Thereafter, operation and sales, quality assurance, business development, information technology, human resources and marketing were other performing sections. The survey is named ‘Latest Employment Trends in EV sector 2022’, which interviewed 15,200 employees of more than 52 companies by CIEL HR services and included few companies like Kinetic Green, Mahindra Electric and Convergence Energy. It was primarily a city-based survey that noted the pan-India scenario of employment in the electric vehicle sector. The study has shown that women are climbing the ladder in the EV segment. EV companies such as Kinetic Green, Mahindra Electric Mobility, Convergence Energy Services Limited, OBEN Electric Vehicle and Ampere Vehicles are seeing women in leadership positions, CIEL HR revealed. “India is investing highly in the electric mobility shift. If India sustains this green momentum, the Indian EV segment will be a USD 206 billion opportunity by 2030. With this rapid growth, there is high scope for engineering domains in the industry. The insights from the study will help companies in strategic decision making related to the Talent Ecosystem,” said Aditya Narayan Mishra, Chief Executive Officer CIEL HR Services. In the past six months, electric vehicle entities employed 2,236 employees and women joined all sectors of the electric vehicle industry. The survey found that the Ola factory at Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, was entirely operated by women while the e-scooter factory of Ola at Ranipet in Tamil Nadu was entirely run by women, it pointed out. NITI Aayog has said that by the end of this decade, 80% of two and three-wheelers, 40% of buses, and 30 to 70% of cars in India will be electric vehicles. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari informed the Parliament that between 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, the two–wheeler electric vehicles rose by 422%, three wheelers by 75% and four–wheelers rose by 230% in March 2022. He also said that the number of electric buses also increased by over 1,200%.
